In the early afternoon, First Coast News reported a 30 year old man missing in the waters of Fernandina Beach. (Click here for story)
During the morning and afternoon hours, a yellow warning flag was flown at Main Beach indicating a moderate risk. Lifeguard stands now display “high hazard” and “no swim” flags.
Bystanders report the individual drowned in an attempt to rescue two individuals. The accident occurred outside of a life guard protected area. Late afternoon surf conditions were moderately rough.
