Pirate PlaygroundPirate Playground is a playground for young children of all abilities. It was built the people and maintained by the people on City property. Parents, please help us keep it clean. Builders Care of Nassau County assists the playground by organizing clean up days. Betsie Huben of Keller Williams Atlantic Partners Realty contacted me for their annual Red Day event, which stands for Renew, Energize, Donate. It is their company’s annual day to “give where we live”!

Twenty five realtors and family, including Managing Partner Mark Dilworth, came together last Thursday to give Pirate Playground a thorough deep cleaning. They hand scrubbed each feature, table, facade and toy with child safe soap. Raked up countless piles of leaves and added mulch. Replanted the window box. Pulled weeds and picked up trash. Shoveled, swept and cleaned inside and out of the fenced in playground. In all, over 70 volunteer hours. The playground sparkled when they left.

Thank you to Betsie and her colleagues for this compassionate generosity. When we left, the playground was filling up with exuberant children busy at messing it up again. Love it!!!

This is what Community is all about. I wise we could bottle it. These are the types of activities here on the Island that truly make this Town special. Our all American City.
