On May 10, 2015, at 9:33 pm, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a reported shooting at 76087 VanZeeland Lane in Yulee.
Upon arrival Nassau County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a woman deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim’s husband was being held by several witnesses who stated that the husband had shot the wife during a domestic dispute.
The husband was subsequently arrested for 2nd Degree Murder and booked into the Nassau County Detention Facility.
Victim: Catherine Mabe VanZeeland, WF- 54 years old
Suspect: Kurt Henry VanZeeland, WM – 49 years old
THIS IS A VERY SAD DAY, I FEEL FOR HIS FAMILY, MRS CATHY WAS A VERY SWEET LADY, MR KURT VANZEELAND WAS MY A.C. MAN . JUST IN SHOCK. I FELL VERY SAD FOR THEIR CHILDREN.
Words can’t express how I’m feeling right now. She was my friend.
I’ve know these folk for many years, and I am so sad to hear this news. May God bless the family as they go through this horror.
