An early morning fire Wednesday in the 1600 block of South Fletcher Avenue is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal with assistance from the Fernandina Beach Police Department, according to Peter T. Bergel, interim fire chief. The state fire marshal determined “the fire to be incendiary in nature.” The house located on the west side of South Fletcher Avenue is under construction. At this time, damage estimates are approximately $100,000.
