Dr. John Ruis, Nassau County School Superintendent for over 20 years, will not seek reelection, according to informed sources, but will retire at the end of his term in 2016.  While the Nassau County School District has not yet issues a formal announcement, we at the Fernandina Observer thought that the approaching end of the school year would be a good time to call attention to some of the achievements and points of pride that have occurred during Dr. Ruis’ tenure.  Few small counties can match us for bragging rights!

Thank you Dr. Ruis for your leadership over the last 20 years as the Nassau County School system has gone through considerable change and challenges.

Does this open the door for Ron Sapp to run in 2016? Time will tell.
