After weeks of input and analysis, consultants Carlos Perez and David Barth of David Barth, LLC will detail their findings in a workshop presentation to the Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 in City Commission Chambers, Fernandina Beach City Hall. Public comment will be received, but the commission will take no formal action.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2015, the Fernandina Beach Planning Advisory Board (PAB) will meet in special session at 5:00 p.m. in City Commission chambers to make recommendations to the FBCC regarding PAB Case 2014-21, the so-called Ross/Hall proposed text amendments to the Land Development Code regarding definitions, storage and uses of certain hazardous materials, in addition to prohibiting cruise line terminals servicing ships in excess of 500 passengers. Public input is scheduled on the agenda. The PAB plans to vote to accept the recommendations in full or with modifications or reject the application. Their recommendations will move to the FBCC for action in May.

Agendas for both meetings appear below.

The interesting part of the proposed Land Code changes is that certain new land uses are being permitted since they are already occurring in some areas, and some new uses are being proposed to be prohibited. All amendments are to be compatible with the City’s present Comprehensive Plan policies. I hope the public takes the time to attend the meeting to discover what might be new uses in the City.

If the PAB has the best interest of the city in mind,it will reject this self serving proposal out of hand.

Andrew – Doing nothing is also a self serving interest for a limited few, but not for those who live here.
