People, mark your calenders.Tues. Dec.9th at 1:30 to 3:00 Nassau county commissioners meeting room,Page Governmental complex. Port status. Update on Liquid Natural Gas at our Port. Including Movement of LNG in and out of Ports in our area by Lt. Cmdr. Robert Butts ( ret.) (LNG) liaison. Seems that the Fernandina Maritime exchange has hired an expert to tell us about how safe and benign Liquid Natural Gas is and what a boon to our economy LNG being shipped from our Port would be. Clyde Davis, in the News Leader opinion column, nov.19th started the propaganda mill with his” Port aids economic diversity” If you don’t now Mr. Davis he is the lawyer for Nassau County Ocean Highway and Port authority (OHPA). In the article The latter part piqued my interest, he talks about(LNG) and (CNG) running through our town at this time. That’s Compressed Natural Gas, most homes in the Northeast utilize it for cooking and heating. He talked about there is no chance of Liquefaction Plant being built at the Port or Amelia Island, just could not or would not do that. I googled Kinder Morgan to see what this Monster,That is caged in our historic district is all about. Turns out they aren’t in the Port business as we envision a Port. No they are in the conveyance of Fossil Fuel business. They own or co-own 80,000 miles of pipeline(24″-26″) in the U.S. and Canada. The own 180 Terminals. Kinder Morgan is building a Liquefaction plant in Elba Ga. to supply Savannah Ga. Terminal/Port. with (LNG) We have the Crawfort Diamond just up the road with 1,814 acres of heavy industry permits. Look at Kinder Morgan web site, I do not want this 125 billion dollar Monster telling this Community what we need.

Robert, I just put together a Packet of the web sites you shared with us. Sent them to Janet Atkins, Joe Garrity, Ed Boner and Johnny Miller. Ask them familiarize themselves with who Kinder Morgan is and what we feel they have in store for us, if we do not act soon. Thank you

Robert, Thanks for this information. I think? every time I find out something new about this five headed snake in our Port, it worries me more for this community. These OHPA commissioners who should be looking out for the best interest for Nassau county and this Island, are in the pocket of Kinder Morgan. For every job this Monster supplies to this county we will lose 20 in the Tourist industry. I’ve talked to many neighbors in Lakewood area, most no nothing about what’s going on. How do we get this message out to people. The Observer is one way but we are preaching to the choir. At one time, Janet and Aaron were going to have a Town Hall Meeting, but that was over the dirty air permit KM applied for for coal. They (KM) put that on hold, not withdrew it. Meeting never happened. I’ve told our commissioners and Janet Atkins office of my concerns. Janet and Joe Gerrity have confirmed. I’m not a conspiracy nut, But you don’t need to be a member if mensa to see what’s coming to this Island. This community, all of us need to stop this Conservative and Liberal. A fossil fuel terminal on this Island will be the demise of it.

Stumpjumper, Dec 9th is more critical for this community than ever before. Some wise person said ” All politics is local” that is truer than ever for this community. To my mind, we made a great choice by putting Ms. Lentz on the city commission. We have two empty seats left on the dais. Mr Poynter has served this community well in the past and he has been at every meeting concerning the ports ten year master plan. He understands all the issues involved with it. Mr. Corbett, my be a fine man, but he does’t have a clue and has not attended one Port meeting. I’ve said this before,For this community and our way of life on this Island the Port issues are the biggest crises since the Civil War. Everybody read as much as you can about Kinder Morgans operations. Robert Wagner posted several web sites, Please, all take the time to read them, discuss them with your neighbors, get the word out.
