EMS seem to stay busy . Looks like rest of the fire department has a lot of TV time .

Standard procedure is for a fire engine and rescue vehicle to respond to all calls since the exact nature of the situation is not known until the emergency personnel arrive on the scene and see exactly what the situation is. For example, a vehicle accident may involve not only injuries to the occupants but may require extraction or the leakage of gas or other fluids and in worst case a potential fire situation.
Between calls the staff is usually busy with equipment testing and maintenance as well as training although I am sure there is some down time where they can enjoy some reading and TV time. They do a great job and the response time is fantastic. Compare that to other jurisdictions in the area and see what a top level fire/rescue department the City is fortunate to have.

I have had to use our rescue personnel more times than anyone would care to.
They are fantastic!!!!! I call and in less than five minutes, they are at my door. Many of them know I am a retired nurse so they do listen to what I have to say while they quickly assess the situation and get to work. Sometimes my illness exacerbates rapidly and they are quick to get me to the hospital. I can’t praise them enough for if they weren’t so efficient…..I wouldn’t be around any more. I thank them with all my heart. UNTIL THE NEXT 911 CALL, I AM SINCERELY, CHAR
