Nassau County Deputies bust mobile meth lab

On Monday, March 10, 2014, Nassau County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop at SR-200 and Santa Barbara Street on a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck for a safety violation. The driver was also driving with a suspended South Carolina Driver License. A Sheriff’s Office K-9 drug dog was called and alerted on the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle found a mobile methamphetamine lab containing plastic bottles with 135.8 grams of meth inside, meth producing chemicals, crushed pseudoephedrine tablets and drug paraphernalia.

John William Messer, 51, from Fernandina Beach was arrested on the following charges and booked into the Nassau County Jail:

• Driving While License Suspended
• Manufacturing or Producing Methamphetamine
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Unlawful Possession of Meth Chemicals
