Sheriff Bill LeeperOn February 10, 2013, at approximately 11:00 am the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a suspicious person (male) possibly attempting to break into homes and vehicles in the North Hampton subdivision. There are so many crazies out there. Being a public service officer is indeed a dangerous occupation these days. We should all pray for their safety daily.

I know this deputy would not have fired upon the suspect unless he was sure it was his only option. Sheriff Leeper will fully follow up with any issues that this may incur. Coming from the State law enforcement himself, Sheriff Leeper will not tolerate any misuse of lethal force.

The moral here? Don’t attack a police officer.

Didn’t turn out so well for the Orange County Deputy that was investigating a suspicious person in a gated community at 11:00 pm. The Deputy was shot and killed.
He did manage to return fire and kill the suspect. The Deputy leaves a wife and three small children behind.

It takes a special breed of person to put a uniform on and protect the public at all cost only to be scrutinized, criticized, ridiculed and questioned on every action or move without knowing if they will live through the day.

Thank you Deputy Quick and all the other Officers who do a tough job everyday trying to protect the people of this country.
