Fernandina Beach City Commission Candidates

Johnny Miller

What strengths will you bring to the city commission?

Among other attributes, I will bring a fiscally and philosophically conservative approach to city government operations and spending.

I have an extensive, current knowledge and understanding of the issues facing our city.

But most of all, I bring to the commission my own strong personal integrity.

What strengths will you bring to the city commission?

Uniting. I strongly believe that now is the time to work together as a commission that leaves agendas at the door and works together. In the Navy we had a core value saying, “One team, one fight.” My strength is that I listen, and strive to understand all aspects of the issues, make the right decision, and act. Let’s group up, and get down to business.

If elected, will you uphold the mayoral straw poll result and vote for Ed Boner for mayor?

Last year, while assisting then-candidate Boner during his campaign, I recall having conversations about the role of the straw poll in the mayoral selection process. I found his views interesting and will take them under consideration as I evaluate my options on this issue.

If elected will you uphold the mayoral straw poll result and vote to elect Ed Boner mayor?

Yes. The people have spoken.

Tell us your thoughts on other issues facing our city that have not been addressed through questions to candidates.

If you have specific questions relating to issues not as yet raised, please send them to me and I will endeavor to respond.

Tell us your thoughts on other issues facing our city that have not been addressed through questions posed to candidates?

I haven’t been asked about my position on the preservation of our green space. I like what our state parks chose as their motto, “The real Florida”. A little jab aimed at Orlando maybe? As anyone who has trekked thru our amazing greenway, or just glanced around while traveling down Beech street knows, we have a lot of  “Real Florida” in our city. I believe we must strive make preserving this vital asset while making inevitable growth decisions.
