Shop with Cops auction – American Business Women’s Association

Shop with Cops AuctionAmerican Business Woman Press Release

Submitted by Gerry Clare

It’s hard to believe, but it’s the time of year where Christmas preparations are in the works.  Shop with Cops, a program begun in 2004 by local resident, Don Monahan, and run by the Fernandina Beach Police Department serves over 150 needy local schoolchildren.  They are given an opportunity to purchase gifts at Walmart with a police officer.  (Go to www.fbfl.us for more information and to donate.)

This year, as in the past, Eight Flags Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will hold its annual auction to benefit this program.  Last year $2,000 was donated.  The auction will be held at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club on Saturday, November 23rd from 5:30 to 8 p.m.  Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the live auctions started at 6:30 p.m.

A professional lady auctioneer will be conducting the event again this year and there will be some unusual items, including the regular restaurants, shops and golf outing offers.  A local ranch is offering a trail ride and gourmet box lunch for two on its 28 acre spread.  Dinner is $20 except for members and reservations are needed by November 17th, so don’t miss the holiday fun.  Call 904-491-5790 or email [email protected].
