North 4th Street will be jumping on Saturday, October 19 at the Friends of the Library Block Party.  The entire block between Centre and Alachua Streets will be packed from 10 am to 2 pm with family-friendly music, performers, demonstrations and activities.  It’s free and everyone is invited.

Dozens of talented people and community groups are participating – Pirates, karate and dance students, the ACT Peppermint Players Theater and ACTeen, along with volunteers from the Museum of History, Maritime Museum, 4H Club, the YMCA, Wild Amelia, Friends of the Library, and many other organizations.

Sharon Randa of Zumba/Anytime Fitness will lead a Zumba Flash Mob; costumed characters will mingle with guests; Ellyn Morgan will give a pottery demonstration; Larry and the Backtracks, Community Band and Dalton Thrift will provide music; and Let’s Roll Entertainment will bring their Monster Ball and Lord of the Rings games. Several restaurants will offer snacks and lunches for sale with tables bussed by members of Boy Scout Troop 817 for tips.  And some nearby restaurants will donate a portion of their sales during the Block Party to FOL.

At 12:30 pm, a brief announcement will be made about the $1.6 million construction project and architectural drawings and floor plans will be available to see.

Fernandina Beach Library t-shirts and tickets for a drawing for at least 28 gift packages valued at $100+ each will be for sale.  Winners will be chosen at 1:30 pm. Prizes include gift certificates from area restaurants, merchandise, services, artwork, antiques and much more. Tickets are available at the Library and the Book Loft.  They will also be sold at the October 5 Fernandina Farmers’ Market on 7th St. from 9 am to 1 pm.

Aside from the food, t-shirts and tickets for the drawing, everything is free, so come on out and enjoy a great day!
