Just three months after trees were removed from Flash Food’s property at Amelia City, a new tree ordinance for the unincorporated area of Amelia Island is up for a final vote by the Nassau County Commissioners.  The vote will take place at the regular meeting of the county commission this evening, April 22.  Although the meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. discussion on the tree ordinance is not expected until  7.

Lyn Pannone, one of the leaders of the newly formed Amelia Tree Conservancy says, “We need each and every one of you [supporters] to attend to show the County Commissioners that we want this law passed.  A standing room only crowd will make it clear that we won’t tolerate anymore clear-cutting of our native canopy trees.”
