The Fernandina Beach Police Department, along with agents of the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at 1702 Atlantic Avenue late yesterday afternoon, ending a five month investigation into methamphetamine production in an upscale and usually quiet residential neighborhood.

The occupants of the home, Kama Shante Gainey and Henry Joseph Lannon II, were arrested at the scene and charged with the Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Listed Chemicals, and Possession of Methamphetamine.  Both are being held at the Nassau County Jail on bonds of more than $120,000.00 each.  Investigators plan to charge Kama Gainey with the additional charges of sale and delivery of Methamphetamine.

Three other subjects were interviewed at the scene and released.

All the essential precursor elements were located inside the residence, further proof that Methamphetamine was being manufactured inside the residence.  Because the manufacture of Methamphetamine is potentially volatile and highly combustible, great caution was taken while dealing with the collection and securing of evidence.

Because minor children were known to reside inside the residence, DCF investigators accompanied law enforcement to the scene and will continue to look into the well-being of the children.

How are children expected to thrive and achieve success in life when this is their environment? It really does take a village to raise a child, now more than ever. My prayers are with the minor children involved in this tragic matter.

All I have to say is that ‘I was in jail with kama and that was not the first time she had been arrested for the same thing. You’d think they would learn their lesson. But she also stated that it had alot to do with the boyfriend. That he just wouldn’t stop doing it kama is not a bad person and I know she loves her kids, she just got mixed up with the wrong man. And I really hope she is able to get the help she needs and stays the he’ll away from him
