The Amelia Island Tourist Development Council (AITDC) has announced results of the 2011/2012 Fiscal Year Conversion Study for the destination. Conducted by Research Data Services, Inc., the study shows that every dollar of advertising, promotional, and internet expenses by the TDC generates an estimated $194.00 in direct, indirect, and induced visitor expenditures. During the 2012 fiscal year, Amelia Island visitors generated approximately $360,667,200 in economic impact in Nassau County, including an estimated $17,269,900 in sales and use tax collections (7.0 percent state and local tax rate).

According to figures released by the TDC, respondents reported a high satisfaction level for Amelia Island, with 97.2 percent stating they were satisfied with their experience at the destination. Nearly 80 percent said they will revisit the area. The study also found that 87.7 percent of those questioned use the internet to gather information and two of every three visitors to Amelia Island booked their trip online.

Research shows the average travel party is comprised of 2.9 people and the average stay lasts 4.3 nights. Half of Amelia Island’s visitors travel as couples, while 28.7 percent travel as families with children and 11.5% travel with friends.

The conversion survey research was developed to explore the characteristics and preferences of consumers who contact the destination seeking information about Amelia Island and visit the destination. Nearly 400 random responses were completed during the 2012 study.
