John Pulice, Candidate District 2

Do you have or have you had school aged children? If so, what educational options (private, public, or home schooling, etc.) did you chose for them and why?

“I have a son Jay, 32  and a daughter Ashley, 29 who attended Nassau County Schools from K-12 and both graduated with honors.  Jay is  PSM , professional surveyor and mapper and Ashley is a CPA.  Additionally, I have two twin 10 year old step daughters Brooke and Kendall currently in 5th grade at Emma Love Hardee elementary school.   I believe in public education and I believe in Nassau County Schools but my children s needs today have drastically changed and the school system has not.  Today we need emphasis on progressive techniques and technologies.  I believe our county is lagging behind and we must provide a more progressive educational  experience for the students in Nassau county.”

What would be the one thing you would suggest or try to implement to strengthen public education in Nassau County?

“Parental input is critical and providing parents with more choices for their children within the traditional public school setting is at the top of my list,  Additionally, outside the traditional four walls we need to explore arts academy’s  and science and technology magnet schools..  Our world is changing and our children s education requires new and dynamic approaches.”

Editor’s Note:  At the request of many of our readers, the Fernandina Observer submitted a list of five questions to school board candidates.  These are the final answers to questions presented to candidates.  The Fernandina Observer is not endorsing any candidate.  Our goal is to inform and educate our readership.
