Twinn Bridges – The Local Farm

Up and running for a second week, the Amelia Island Market Place located on North 7th Street in downtown Fernandina continues to expand its offerings much to the delight of local market customers.  More tents are evident as are customers.

New to the market is Twinn Bridges, “The Local Farm” run by Scott and Denise Francis.    Twinn Bridges provide organic “food for your table, and plants for your garden.”  Their nice array of organic products attracted a lot of attention.  Clearly concerned with the environment, Scott and Denise drive to the market in a large white van that runs on cooking oil provided by restaurant clients.

The Bread Company

Although not new to the market, The Bread Company was a big hit to market goers.  Today’s special was a free package of Pita bread (and a generous amount) to the first 50 customers.  “It is a pleasure to be back in downtown Fernandina,” says Azim Shariff, owner of the company.  “People stop by and let us know how much they appreciate us being here.  It makes us feel good to hear that.”  For a short time, Shariff was involved with the Fernandina Farmers’ Market.

Browsing though the market and listening to conversations taking place, the reaction among locals and frequent visitors alike is enthusiastically positive.  Customers are beaming, buying, and boasting that a much appreciated weekly market in downtown Fernandina continues.

I was so happy to see the new incarnation of the farmers market. We took the generous offer of a full size pack of free pita and we were happy to be able buy The Bread Companys “mocking bird” seeded whole wheat sliced loaf for only $5.
