Will they or won’t they decide to fund July 4th fireworks?  Or will the fireworks be limited to City Commission Chambers?

Item 6.3 on the FBCC agenda for the June 5, 2012 meeting calls for approving a budget amendment in the amount of $13,200 to pay for a fireworks display on July 4th.  The previous city commission removed the item from the 2012 budget, opting to review the city’s economic situation as the holidays approached.

A multiple choice quiz for our readers:  Since we are currently paying for 3 city managers (Czymbor, Lott and Gerrity), and we are looking at an austere budget for 2012-13, will our fiscally conservative commissioners: a) stick with the budget and forego the fireworks this year; b) raise the money from local businesses and sponsors; or c) ignore the financial implications and dip into reserves to fund fireworks?  Watch tomorrow night’s meeting to learn the answer!
