The Port of Fernandina was closed temporarily as Tropical Storm Beryl headed our way. According to Val Schwec, Commercial Director for Nassau Terminals, the closure was “under normal circumstances and following U.S. Coast Guard procedures due to heavy weather conditions.” Jax Port was closed as well.
“Fort Clinch State Park “fared really well,” according to Keith Alboher, Assistant Park Manager. The park is open including the campgrounds. Keith expressed pride in staff efforts to clean up after Beryl, and commented, “We take care of our park.”
The Fernandina Beach Golf Course is open for business, but continued rain from the storm kept most golfers away throughout the day.
