Pamela Baity is a local quilt and machine quilting artist exhibiting some of her accomplished works at the Fernandina Beach Library Community Room.

Friends of the Library is pleased to announce a new exhibition of quilts by local artist Pamela Baity. Ms. Baity has taken the opportunity to share her expertise and artistry with Fernandina Beach residents, students and visitors to enhance the community’s understanding and appreciation of the historic art of quilt-making.

At an early age, Ms. Baity was taught to sew and quilt by her mother and two grandmothers, but has been seriously quilting for 17 years. She is an active member of the Amelia Island Quilt Guild and has received numerous awards for her quilts and her machine quilting.

The exhibition is available for viewing now through August 31st, 2017 in the Community Room of the Fernandina Beach Library, located at 25 N. 4th Street. Special viewing hours are Saturdays June 10, 17 and 24 from 10am to noon. For other available viewing hours please call the library at 904-530-6500, Extension 1.

For further information regarding this exhibition, on joining Friends of the Library, or to donate, please visit the Friends of the Library website at www.fernandinaFOL.org.

Highlighting the exhibition is the “Big Bella” quilt which was a semi-finalist in Quilt Week Paducah 2015 and appears in the 2017 American Quilter’s Society QuiltART Calendar. Big Bella is reminiscent of Italian tile mosaics.
Duomo is a fabric interpretation of the Duomo in Sienna, Italy with its beautiful stained glass windows and massive black and white pillars.

Liberated Lady is an art quilt representing modern women as well as liberated quilting.

Pam’s quilts are beautiful in these photos, and even more beautiful when you see them in an intimate setting in the library’s special events room. One of her quilts is featured in this year’s desk calendar by one of the leading associations. This is truly fabric art and Pam is one of the very best.
