FDOT Media Release
May 16, 2017 4:32 p.m.
A westbound lane shift is scheduled this weekend along A1A from Blackrock Road/Mount Zion Court to Chester Road/Amelia Concourse in Nassau County to allow construction crews to reconstruct the existing eastbound lanes, weather permitting. The eastbound lane closure is scheduled to begin Friday, May 19 at 9 p.m. through Saturday, May 20 at 8 p.m.
This is important for the project to move into its next phase of construction.
On Friday afternoon, crews will begin removing the existing striping in the median between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., weather permitting. At approximately 9 p.m., the contractor will implement an eastbound, right lane closure in order to provide crews access to all striping that needs to be removed. Crews will also be installing new signal heads for the westbound shift. Once the temporary section of pavement is re-striped, traffic will be shifted onto the temporary pavement as performed last Saturday for eastbound traffic.
The $60 million widening project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2019, weather, holidays and unforeseen delays permitting.
Up-to-date lane closure information is available on the Florida Department of Transportation’s project website at: www.nflroads.com.
