Editor’s Note: The owl in this photograph was perched in  “Mary Agnes’ Tree” at the former Fred’s parking lot on South 8th Street. Mary Agnes White was an early tree hugger in Fernandina and she spoke out when the parking lot was under construction telling the city not to let the construction workers take down that tree.  Thankfully  she won and the tree still stands.

Gale Jameyson moved to Fernandina Beach from Kennebunk, Maine in 2002 after retiring from UNUM Life Insurance Company. Gale began playing golf in 1962 and is a member of the Golf Club of North Hampton. While in Maine, Gale was involved with the Maine State Golf Association as a director for 10 years and as president for 2 years. Gale enjoys taking pictures while walking Fernandina’s waterfront and spending time in Fort Clinch. We thank Gale for his contribution to the Fernandina Observer.
