“A True Work of Art” Fresnel Lens, Amelia Island Lighthouse Photo courtesy of Marc Williams

Editor’s Note: Marc Williams noticed our article on the Amelia Island Lighthouse going dark (click here), and sent us this  great photo he took of the lighthouse’s Fresnel Lens during one of Scott Moore’s Photo Walks. He recognized the lens is a true “work of art.” Thanks Marc for your timely contribution.

Marc Williams is a Florida native, born in Gainesville and grew up in Leesburg. He and his wife Beverly, also from Leesburg, moved here in 2012 from Atlanta after Marc retired from Cisco Systems. They have had a small home in the Historic District since 2006 and enjoy many of the island’s attractions and amenities.

Marc is volunteer at Ft. Clinch and Council on Aging and is a board member of the European American Business Club of Amelia Island. He enjoys photography, biking, boating and antique telephones.

Yes, the correct spelling is FRESNEL. I know because in theatre we often used Fresnel lights, which gave a soft edge.
