Rayonier Advanced Materials is notifying area residents that on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a hazmat drill will take place at it’s Fernandina Beach Gum Street plant facility. According to General Manager C.A. McDonald, emergency response personnel from the City of Fernandina Beach, Nassau County, and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue (depending upon availability) will participate in the drill to “improve their response capabilities in the event an actual emergency takes place.”
Unlike the Friday morning weekly horn blast heard by area residents, the Saturday alert will have a slightly different cadence.
