B&B Theatres announces extensive remodel and reopening of Amelia Island’s only movie theatre

Media Release

B&B Theatres is pleased to announce that work is about to begin on an extensive remodel of the newly named B&B Theatres Amelia Island 7.  Construction will begin Monday December, 12th 2016 with an anticipated late February opening.

The B&B Amelia Island 7 will undergo a complete transformation as the theatre will be demolished down to its bare walls. Multiple improvements are scheduled, including the installation of luxury electric, leather, reclining theater chairs in every auditorium. The theatre will also receive new carpet, new walls, paint, concession stand, and restrooms. Once complete the Amelia Island 7 will have a new polish and shine and will create the ultimate movie going experience for residents and tourists from all over the country.

A new point-of-sale software will be installed, the implementation of which will enable reserved seating in all seven auditoriums. Additionally, the software allows guests to participate in the B&B Theatres Backstage Pass Loyalty Program, a rewards system through which repeat guests can earn discounts on tickets, concessions, and other great promotions.

Customers will be excited to learn about the installation of self-serve soda fountains, which will afford them the opportunity to fill their own drinks, mix flavors, and enjoy free refills on all drink sizes. Along with self-serve soda B&B will be offering several other self-serve options such as candy and the butter bar, where guest can add butter and multiple flavor seasoning to their popcorn. Lastly, B&B will be adding a Marquee Bar so guests of age can enjoy movie-themed cocktails, beer and wine before, during or after the show.

Many other exciting improvements and developments are planned, and discussions are ongoing for additional ways to improve the customer experience.

Bob Bagby, President of B&B Theatres, said “I am pleased that we are able to work with Tom Wheeler and Dave Berkman of Wheeler/Brand MGT, our landlord in Amelia Island. Dave is a local resident and will frequent the theatre. We have been working on this project with Tom and Dave for almost a year and we look forward to continuing this relationship as we bring a state-of-the-art, first class movie-going experience to the Amelia Island residents and the surrounding area. Our guests will be blown away by our luxury reclining seats and we can’t wait to invest in the community.”

Customers are welcome to visit bbtheatres.com/facebook to track the progress of the remodel.

I’ve been to a couple of their theaters… the chairs are pretty amazing. Power-reclining leather chairs with footrests. The closest analogy I can give is a business-class airline seat. There is enough space in-between the rows to allow people to walk by even when the chairs are fully reclined. It really made watching a movie feel like you were at your own private home movie theater.

This is some of the best news to hit in a while! Instead of tearing down, we’re rebuilding!! Thank you to all involved in getting “our” theater back on it’s feet:)

It’s great news to have our theater back. However, I am concerned about all the automation and the consequent lost opportunity to generate jobs – usually held by our young people. And it sounds quite high end, so another concern is affordability of ticket prices for our community.

Looking for theatre renovation and found your article.

The chairs looks like the most important part.

Thanks and keep sharing.
