Nassau County Board of Commissioners places temporary ban on beach driving on Amelia Island

nassau-county-sealAt today’s meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved a temporary ban on motor vehicle driving on County beaches until further notice due to the amount of debris from Hurricane Matthew. This ban includes cars, ATV’s, three-wheelers, four-wheelers and dirt bikes. The public will be notified when this ban is lifted.

Be great if they never lifted the ban. I love to walk on the beach, but do not like being chased by and threatened by (mostly men in pick up trucks) who seem to think it funny to drive as close to me as possible and drive in circles around turtle nests, plow up the beach making ‘donuts’, drive into the dunes, etc. We don’t need this kind of destruction and threatened violence on our beach.

Wonderful …thank you….I agree with Nancy’s remarks. Keep the beaches free from motor vehicles.
