Youth Leadership Nassau taking applications

The 2016-17 class of Youth Leadership Nassau is taking applications, any 10th and 11th grade students who are interested in leadership and community activities, who are interested in addressing the issues confronting Nassau County, and who have a “B” or better GPA are invited to apply.

The program’s objectives include:

    • To identify high school students who have demonstrated leadership qualities and concern for the community.
    • To present in-depth programs that will acquaint participants with community needs, opportunities, problems and resources, and provide interaction with community leaders and decision makers.
    • To develop an understanding of leadership qualities and group skills.
    • To provide opportunities for students from different areas to know one another and develop a level of mutual trust and respect.

The program will consist of an initial evening orientation and seven (7) all-day sessions (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM unless otherwise notified), all designed to inform students on aspects of Nassau County. The program will include sessions focusing on Environmental Issues, Government, Law Enforcement, Leadership, Life skills, Arts and much more.

Applications can be picked up at the front office at each Nassau County high school or at the Nassau County Extension Service, 543350 US Highway 1 North, Callahan, FL 32011.

Completed applications, a short video, and a teacher or counselor recommendation letter must be received by noon on September 1, 2016. Applications can be submitted to the front office at each Nassau County high school or to the Nassau County Extension Service. A Leadership Nassau representative will pick up applications at the schools in the afternoon on September 1th.
