After the first five days of early voting in Nassau County, the Supervisor of Elections has released the report below.  About 12 percent of registered voters have already voted. Early voting will continue through August 27, 2016 .  Mail  ballots continue to flow into the Supervisor of Elections’ office as well.  Remember that the early voting locations are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends as well as weekdays.  Primary Election Day is August 30, 2016.  See votenassau.com for additional voting information.

Anyone wonder how much it costs to keep 4 voting centers open for 9 days to tally 2677 votes (through 8/24)? Could we not complete early voting in half the time (4.5 days) and save half the costs? Just wondering?

According to Vicki Cannon, Nassau County Supervisor of Elections, “In answer to the question below, Florida law requires a mandatory early voting period beginning on the 10th day before an election and ending on the 3rd day before an election (F.S. 101.657). Pursuant to the same statute, early voting may be offered at the discretion of the Supervisor of Elections on the 15th, 14th, 13th, 12th, 11th or 2nd day before an election. Early voting during those periods shall be provided no less than 8 hours and no more than 12 hours per day at each site during the applicable period.”

Money spent on more opportunities to vote is the best value for all of us.
