At the annual Nassau County Volunteer of the Year luncheon, Dee Torre Kaufman received recognition from the Board of Commission for Nassau County (BOCC) for her tireless efforts to lead the Friends of the Library and its capital campaign to enlarge and enhance the Fernandina Beach branch of the Nassau County Library.
The BOCC received input from various departments during the nomination process to identify county employees or citizens who have volunteered in the community.
The proclamation received during the Monday evening BOCC meeting, applauded Dee’s “devotion, and passionate commitment” to the library. Dee served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Library, completed grant applications, organized special events, and assisted with fundraising.
In Dee’s remarks to the BOCC, she recognized Bill Flynn’s tremendous contributions, the community support received during the campaign, the generosity of individual and business donors, and the dedication of many who served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Library over the years.
The recently completed addition of the library includes a technology center, meeting room, children’s library, and a reading room containing various newspapers and magazines.

Congratulations Dee on recognition well deserved. You, Bill and the other FOL members have made a wonderful contribution to the community through the expansion and furnishing of the library addition.
Congrats!!!
BRAVO !!
Dee is truly deserving of this honor. Chairing this capital campaign was a daunting task and a huge commitment for a volunteer. Dee stuck with it through thick and thin and we are all the beneficiaries. Thank you, Dee and the Nassau County Commissioners for recognizing her accomplishment.
