Editor’s Note:  According to Len Kreger, ghost crabs sightings are a sign of a healthy beach.  Kreger spends many mornings patrolling the beach as a volunteer for the Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch.  We thank Len for his contribution to the Fernandina Observer.

Good to see our Beaches are healthy. We also need to sustain our total environment. ie People’s quality of life, our River, and Air quality. This Islands economy, is based more and more in Tourism/Conventions and Real property. Since you’ve thrown your hat into the ring to become a City Commissioner, It’s time to state your position on the future of our City as it pertains to The Port of Fernandina and Heavy Industry on Amelia Island. There can be no half answers Len, This is way to critical. I’m looking forward to this election.

As we get closer to the election I will articulate in detail my position on many of the issues which I believe are key to effectively governing the City.

As you know I have been on the Planning Advisory Committee for six years plus and have a public record on many of the issues you are concerned.

My initial concern is to serve the entire city.

Len,

You were the main force why the PAB didn’t approve the land text amendments proposed by Chip Ross and Chuck Hal, putting at peril the fragile environment of the City of Fernandina. Despite guiding the PAB to reject OHPA.’s Master Plan, you seemed to buckle under the pressure of industry when the land text amendments were brought to the PAB. Furthermore, you used (abused) the power of the gavel to shutdown people who spoused opposite views. This is the most recent record that most citizens remember
