Council on AgingNassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA) will be recognizing the many volunteers who lend their time and skills assisting Nassau County seniors by holding a special luncheon at the Fernandina Beach Senior Center on April 30. The public is invited to join the Executive Board, Executive Director, staff and friends of NCCOA in recognizing all of our selfless volunteers.

Volunteers play a huge role in many of NCCOA’s important programs and activities. From delivering meals to homebound seniors, calling Bingo games, repairing a roof, or assisting with the annual fundraising Gala, volunteers are the heart and soul of NCCOA and the important role it performs in our local communities on behalf of Nassau County seniors.

A longtime NCCOA volunteer Mr. Kent Andres, is the 2014 recipient of the Elsie Harper award. He received his award at the city of Fernandina Beach’s volunteer luncheon held earlier this month at the Atlantic Recreation Center.

“Our volunteers give their all for this organization. We have some who have been with us for more than 20 years,” explained Frances Bartelt, NCCOA’s Volunteer Coordinator. “They ask so little and give so much, a luncheon is the very LEAST we can do.”

The NCCOA volunteer recognition luncheon will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to join us in the Senior Center and help celebrate the contributions of all of our selfless volunteers.

In its 41st year of service to senior citizens, Nassau County Council on Aging’s mission is to improve the lives of older adults with a special focus on those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged. We accomplish this through our Senior Life Centers, providing vital programs, services and compassionate care designed to improve the health, independence and economic security of Nassau County seniors and their families. We are partially funded by government grants, foundation funding and donations from private individuals.
