On the morning of April 21, 2015 the Conner’s Service Center on US-301 at Booth Road in Callahan was burglarized. It was reported that the suspect entered the business by breaking a side window. The suspect broke the widow of a vehicle in the parking lot and also entered an unlocked vehicle. The suspect reportedly cut his hand when he broke into one of the locations as blood was found at the scene. The individual stole a car radio out of one of the vehicles and fled the scene. Video surveillance at the business showed images of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving.

Later on that morning, a patrol deputy observed a disabled vehicle on US-1. As the deputy stopped to check on the vehicle he noticed the driver matched the description of the burglary suspect earlier that morning and also noticed the person’s hand was cut. Further investigation revealed that the stolen radio was inside the man’s vehicle.

The suspect, Edward Shawn Miller, 43 from Wilmington, North Carolina, was arrested for DUI, three counts of Burglary and one count of Grand Theft and booked into the Nassau County Detention Center.

The suspect also has warrants out of Pennsylvania and Georgia, however the authorities in those locations stated that they will not extradite. The suspect was in a vehicle which was reported stolen from North Carolina, however the authorities in North Carolina are not going to prosecute.
