South Course Greens Converted to Champion Bermuda Grass

Fernandina Beach Golf Club – managed by Billy Casper Golf, the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the U.S. will host a grand re-opening celebration August 1-3 to showcase renovated greens on its South Course.

Golfers can play any time Friday through Sunday that weekend for $30 – includes
lunch and range balls – and compete in daily on-course contests for prizes.
Additional weekend activities include:

* Friday, August 1 – Demo the latest equipment from Nike and Callaway

* Saturday, August 2 – Watch 30 of the biggest hitters in golf compete for $10,000
in prizes in the First Coast Classic Long Drive Competition

Referb 3“Our loyal golfers will play on new greens which, hands down, are now arguably the best in the area.” says Josh O’Brien, General Manager of Fernandina Beach Golf Club. “This is the first time in Fernandina Beach Golf Club history that full-scale
renovations were done to improve playing conditions.”

Champion Bermuda grass – the same used by Pinehurst Resort, host of this year’s

South Course putting surfaces that have been closed since mid-May. In addition, select bunkers received facelifts and distressed areas were grown in.

On August 1, Fernandina Beach introduces special late-summer, 18-hole rates:

* 7 a.m to 8 a.m. – $20 and cup of coffee
* 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. – $25 with range balls and cup of coffee
* 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – $30 with range balls and lunch
* 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – $25 and sports drink
* 3 p.m. to close – $20 and sports drink
