Candidate Mike Boyle
Nassau County Commission, District 2

Will you agree to split the local cost share for beach renourishment with the City of Fernandina Beach? If so, how? If not, why?

Regarding sharing the cost of beach renourishment, I would be more than willing to sit down and discuss this matter with the city. What makes this issue somewhat dicey in my eyes is the feeling that I (and many others) have that the City “cherry-picked” the best and most expensive properties along South Fletcher Avenue to capitalize on their tax revenues, but now would like the county to subsidize the renourishment project. At the same time, however, as the former Chair of the Tourist Development Council (TDC), I am well aware how all of us benefit financially from the tourists who come to our beautiful island to enjoy the beaches. For that reason I am willing to explore all reasonable ideas to preserve this wonderful amenity.

Boyle and Eugene Edward Alley are seeking office currently held by incumbent Commissioner Steve Kelley.

Candidate information:

Mike Boyle received a BA Degree, and an MBA Degree in Management. He spent 27-years as an FBI Special Agent, and after retirement he was a Managing Director for the International Accounting and Consulting Firm of KMG.

Mike held numerous roles in leadership in both the county and the region.

Mr. Boyle: I like your willingness to sit down and discuss this matter go sharing the cost of beach renourishment with the city. Also, as a voter, I hate to be ignored by a candidate.
