The Coastal Cinema 10 will contain large, wall-to-wall screens, DLP digital projection and digital surround sound in all auditoriums.”

In addition, Carmike is touting  a BigD screen that “will measure almost 60 feet wide by about three stories tall.”

According to Robert L. Rinderman, spokesperson for J C I R a marketing firm hired by Carmike, “Construction should begin shortly, with a target opening date in November; hopefully ahead of the holiday cinema going season.”

A number of Amelia Island residents are encouraging Carmike to continue operating its South 14th Street/Fernandina Beach location. (See “Island without a cinema – An opinion) The term “new location” is used in the press release with no mention of future plans for Carmike’s 14th Street cinema.
